Jada's journey through life has been a long one She started out with a beautiful beginning. Her birth was flawless, and her eyes as crystal blue as the ocean from the moment she was born.
At 8 weeks of age she began to have some strange sypmtoms. One arm would twitch for 10-15 mins while she was in her crib or nursing. It never seemed to bother her.
Then at 4 months of age, Jada had her first generalized seizure. It lasted 90 mins. This was her first time being intubated.
"Jada, if you don't have a smile,
I'll give you one of mine..."

"All her seizures were life threatening, each averaging 20 minutes long."
For the next two years Jada was hospitalized most of the time. All her seizures were life threatening, each averaging 20 minutes long. (see Medical History) After we learned that surgery was not an option we had to make some very tough decisions. Our team at Doernbecher Childrens Hospital helped us make them.
We tried numerous medications and the Ketogenic Diet. After seeing no improvement, we decided to have a Vagus Nerve Stimulator implanted. This has changed her life, giving her freedom. She still has a VNS and is taking only one anticonvulsant. This is one of her many accomplishments.
